DIY Framed Art Piece/Glasses Holder

DIY, Frame Art, Glasses

This is easily one of my favorite upcycles so far. I saw this version of it on Pinterest a few months ago and
thought ‘That’s cool…but I want something a little more artsy…’. So, I made one! My Meg, who has an actual yard, spray painted the frame orange for me. When she took the picture out of the frame, she left the staples in tact – this proved to be super helpful! Once it was dry, all I did was string hemp twine through the already existing staples in a zig zag pattern until I decided it was done. Honestly, it reminded me of those awesome Geo-Boards we played with back in elementary school. ♥ (Oh, nostalgia, how I love thee…) Anyway, I have a prescription glasses collection because, well, I’m addicted to obnoxious glasses and obnoxious glasses can only match so may things. Now, they’re all in one spot and I don’t have to worry about them being scratched or stuck in cases that take up too much room! This can easily be done with ribbon, embroidery thread, plastic thread, elastic, etc. You can give it a backing as well and really turn it into something beautiful, but I like the open back.

Let me see what you do with this idea!

  3. That’s awesome! Sadly, I don’t wear glasses, or own that many pairs of sunglasses….they always disappear, so I do good to have one pair handy. :o/

  4. Neat!!! I need to make my daughter one so she can keep up with hers!

  5. Awesome! I love the way it looks :)
